A lovely and empowering evening to get into the redemptive spirit of Passover! The Jewish Women’s Circle learned about the power of Miriam, who led and inspired the women in Egypt with tremendous faith. In the depths of hellish exile, these amazing, strong women prepared tambourines, to use in jubilant song when the inevitable redemption would come. They believed and stood strong - and they sang and celebrated at the splitting of the sea! The craft was so professional and enjoyable and every woman’s tambourine is a beautiful work of art.
An incredible evening with Ilana Harkavi, celebrity makeup artist and founder of Il Makiage. The Jewish Women’s Circle enjoyed a Motzei Shabbat “melava malka” dairy dinner, Havdalah service, and an engaging presentation by Mrs. Harkavi, as she alternated between live makeup artistry and sharing her personal story.
Ilana regaled the audience with tales of her experiences with famous clients, movie sets, her creation of the first matte eyeliner, a 500 color makeup kit, and the three story flagship Il Makiage store in the heart of Manhattan that attracted celebrities galore. Yet her soul yearned for something that couldn’t be found in Hollywood. Her journey to Shabbat observance and an authentic, Torah life required difficult decisions and personal sacrifice. Soon after making practical commitment to Jewish observance, her business flourished immeasurably, and went on to achieve tremendous international success and acclaim. Living life as a Torah observance Jew brought her peace of mind, deep fulfillment, and a family that is the most precious achievement of her life.
